Watford FC take strength training to a new level with Queenax Installation

Watford Football Club has installed a custom space-efficient Queenax™ rig in its player’s fitness suite, in order to maximise strength and functional fitness exercise and accommodate large numbers of players training for both the Premier League team and youth teams.

Lee Strafford, U23 Strength and Conditioning coach at Watford FC, comments: “The Queenax™ is highly versatile. The more players we can get training at the same time the better and as well as being fun to use, it also builds on team dynamics.”

Training at such an elite level the players needed a highly efficient solution tailored to their needs and the Queenax provided this. The variety of apps and optional add-ons provides the coaches with infinite training exercises to progress the player’s abilities. In particular, they utilise the UFO suspended platform to enhance motor control, balance, rhythm, body awareness and mental engagement, as well as strength. The punching bag is used to train rotation, deceleration, and reaction, while at the same time improving aerobic fitness and core stability.

True to their competitive nature, players enjoy competing against each other and often use the ladder structure across the top of the Queenax™ to see who can do a monkey cross from one side to the other the quickest.

Their solution was further customised to integrate squat racks into the Queenax unit to deliver even more performance training capabilities.

Mark Anderson, sales consultant for Precor, explains: “The football club wanted equipment that would provide versatile training options and during training sessions enable numerous players to train simultaneously. The Queenax™ is the perfect solution for them.”
