RIBA North announces winter lineup

The RIBA North architectural centre in Liverpool, UK, has announced its lineup of events and exhibitions for the winter season.

The new season opens with Cerámica, an exhibition showcasing traditional ceramic techniques and digital processes, and how they can work together to create architectural elements that are both meaningful and sustainable. Cerámica opens on Saturday 28 October and will run until 10 February 2018.

From Friday 10 November, RIBA North will be exhibiting the finalist models for the RIBA Stirling Prize, the winner of which will be announced next week, Tuesday 31 October, at The Roundhouse in London. The six finalists include three leisure projects; The British Museum World Conservation and Exhibitions Centre in London by Rogers Stirk Harbour + Partners, Hastings Pier by dRMM Architects and the Command of the Oceans museum in Kent by Baynes and Mitchell Architects.

From Wednesday 6 December RIBA will play host to the RIBA Presidents Medals exhibit. First awarded in 1836 RIBA Presidents Medals is designed to reward talent, promote innovation, and encourage excellence in the study of architecture. It is given to the best student projects from around the world. This year saw 275 entries from 87 architecture schools from across the globe.

Suzy Jones, director of RIBA North, says: “RIBA North has been open for just four months and is already firmly established as a destination which promotes the benefits of architecture and good design on the world around us.”

Jones adds: “Our winter season is packed with activities to appeal to all our visitors: from families to design professionals and architects.”
