Phase two completes as hotel opens at Thailand's Vana Nava waterpark

A mixed-use family entertainment complex in Hua Hin, Thailand, which launched with a major new waterpark in 2014, has completed the second phase of its ongoing development.

The THB1bn (US$30.2m, €26m, £23.1m) Vana Nava Hua Hin, billed as an eco-friendly waterpark, is a project by Thailand’s Proud Real Estate Co, with the master plan including a hotel and luxury residences catering to both Thai and overseas visitors.

Phase two comes in the form of Holiday Inn Vana Nava Hua Hin, complete with some of the most comprehensive MICE facilities in the region. The 300-room hotel – at 140m (460ft) tall, the tallest building in the city – cost a further THB1.8bn and boasts infinity pools on the 26th floor, a rooftop observation deck, a bar and restaurant, a spa, fitness centre and meeting rooms.

The hotel could bring in an additional 150,000 visitors to the waterpark every year, as Hua Hin continues to evolve from a destination for older European tourists to attracting younger Asian tourists and families.

As well as families and younger travellers, the hotel is targeting the burgeoning MICE market, and is equipped for everything from large-scale conferences to company team-building events.

The final phase of the development will consist of residences and bring the total investment for the complex to THB4bn. It’s expected to complete in 2018.

Proud Real Estate also owns the nearby InterContinental Hua Hin Resort, True Arena Hua Hin and Bluport Hua Hin Resort Mall.

Supplied by WhiteWater West, Vana Nava Hua Hin waterpark opened its doors on 1 December 2014 and offers 19 stations and rides, with more than 800m (2,600ft) of water slides. The park’s highlights include the Abyss, Thailand’s largest slide, and Vana Nava Fall, Asia’s tallest man-made mountain waterfall.

Following the project, WhiteWater and Proud Real Estate partnered on a joint venture, WhiteWater Southeast Asia, which delivers turnkey waterpark solutions to developers in the region.
