Video: Frank Lampard tests ‘sports clinic of the future’

Elite footballers and athletes of the future will prolong their careers by attending all-in-one health and sports clinics, according to former England and Chelsea star Frank Lampard.

As reported in the latest Health Club Management, Lampard, who retired only last year at the age of 38, has partnered with a health clinic in Dubai.

In a newly released video (below), Lampard can be seen undergoing a series of tests at Emirates Healthcare Group’s new nanoM clinic, on Palm Jumeirah, which features a comprehensive range of health screening facilities and sports performance laboratories.

Speaking about the clinic, Lampard said: “I’ve never seen a facility like this, where everything is in one place.

“With technology like this, I’d be surprised if we don’t see players – and even clubs – coming here and undertaking much more thorough assessments.

“Injury is such a big topic in football right now. If you’re a player at any level, you need to know about your own body and about any issues that might crop up in the future.

“This is exactly the kind of facility players will really benefit from, especially when you consider the technology here can help to pinpoint potential issues before you even know about them.”

The 17,000sq ft (5,182sq m) centre offers cardio-metabolic and muscle activation testing, 3D posture and motion analysis, functional agility assessments and hand-eye coordination testing.

“You can have an all-over check, from head to toe, so that’s a big plus for professional footballers, even those who feel fit and healthy – it gives you that peace of mind,” said Lampard.

“If we can help preserve playing careers, that’s a good thing for everyone involved.”
