Roehampton Club completes £4m upgrade of outdoor pool, gym and studios

Roehampton Club, a multi-sport members' club in south-west London, has completed the redevelopment of its health club’s outdoor pool, gym and studios.

The year-long refurbishment was part of a two-phase, £4m redevelopment programme, designed to “better reflect the premium positioning” of the club.

Phase one of the works saw the upgrading of the existing outdoor pool to allow swimming all year round, while the second phase included a redesign of the health club and studios.

David Morley Architects (DMA) and Chase Construction were appointed to remodel the club’s irregular-shaped outdoor pool into a four-lane 20m heated pool capable of accommodating a range of activities – from lane swimming to family-friendly aqua fun.

For the second phase, Sparc Studios teamed up with DMA and Chase Construction to upgrade the gym’s interior design, modelled on Sparc’s previous work for a number of leading London gyms.

The new gym has been fitted with ARTIS cardio and strength equipment, supplied by Technogym.

“The works have given us an attractive family-friendly outdoor pool plus two more dedicated exercise studios for spinning, yoga and pilates," Marc Newey, CEO of Roehampton Club.

"Combine that with the new mood lighting and décor with subtle colours, and we have a new gym and studios to be very proud of.”

Facilities at the Roehampton Club, which has 5,000 members, include an 18-hole golf course, 30 tennis courts, six squash courts, four croquet lawns, indoor and outdoor swimming pools plus gym, studios and a sports injury and beauty clinic.

The club was awarded the gold standard by Investors in People as well as Sports Club of the Year in the 2017 Club Mirror Awards.
