St Nicholas Park Leisure Centre opens following redevelopment

St Nicholas Park Leisure Centre in Warwick has been fully reopened to the public as part of a £14.5m (US$20.6m, €16.7m) redevelopment programme of the region's leisure infrastructure.

New additions at the centre include an 80 station gym floor – almost triple the size of the former suite – along with two exercise studios and a reception area. The new studio space means that the centre can now offer nearly 30 classes a week, including boxercise, aerobics and yoga.

The centre's 25m swimming pool – which received a facelift as part of the project – reopened in October 2017 as part of the revamp's first phase.

Owned by Warwick District Council, the centre is managed by Everyone Active,

Toni Gaskins, area contract manager for Everyone Active, said: "The fitness suite will offer an extensive range of equipment that will support everyone’s fitness needs and there will be 15 additional classes held each week in the new group exercise studios."

As well as the improvements at St Nicholas Park, the £14.5m investment included the refurbishment of the Newbold Comyn centre, in Leamington.

The Newbold centre now houses a 100-station gym and two studios plus a spin studio, as well as a four-court sports hall.

Everyone Active won the contract to operate both centres following a 12-month procurement process by Warwick District Council.
