India preparing bid for 2032 Olympic Games

India is planning to launch a bid to host the 2032 Olympic and Paralympic Games, according to Narinder Batra, president of the Indian Olympic Association (IOA).

Batra made the statement at a press conference held during the visit to India by International Olympic Committee (IOC) President Thomas Bach.

"We are bidding for three events, the 2026 Youth Olympics, 2030 Asian Games and 2032 Olympics," Batra said.

Batra, who currently also holds the role of president of the International Hockey Federation, was elected IOA president in December 2017.

In his acceptance speech, Batra said he would use his term to transform India into a "world contender" in international sports.

"I believe that through my passion for sport I can significantly enhance the work and reputation of the IOA, with a long-term ambition to turn India into a major challenger in world sport," he said in December.
