13 Sep 2018 Gensler’s Gwyneth Paltrow-backed West Hollywood Arts Club receives planning approval BY Luke Cloherty |
London-based private members’ haunt the Arts Club is set to open a third location in West Hollywood, California, US. The new branch of the historic club – founded in London in 1863 by luminaries such as novelists Charles Dickens and Anthony Trollope and artist Frederic Leighton – will sit in a 132,000sq ft mixed-use complex designed by Gensler. Backed by Hollywood actress and wellness champion Gwyneth Paltrow, facilities will include private dining and a rooftop pool. West Hollywood City Council granted approval for the new building, of which original renderings were released in 2016, voting 4-1 in favour. The complex will be at the site of the original Hustler store on Sunset Strip and the Arts Club will sit on its top floors, boasting private dining spaces, a movie screening room, up to 15 hotel rooms and a rooftop pool. The West Hollywood club will be the second Arts Club in the US, joining a branch in Aspen, Colorado. Construction is expected to complete in 2020. Close Window |
