D1 Training to open 25 new locations as part of expansion plans

US-based fitness operator D1 Training has revealed plans to open 25 new clubs in Texas over the next five years.

The openings are part of a strategy to grow D1's portfolio of clubs in the south of US through franchising agreements, and will add to the company's existing network of 30 clubs across the country.

Founded in 2001 by former NFL player Will Bartholomew, D1 Training focuses on athletic-based training to achieve sport and fitness goals.

“Expansion in Texas was a natural fit because of the pride the state takes in community and sports," said Michael Abramson, president of D1 Training.

“The demographics of Texas and the state’s reputation of competitive scholastic sports indicate plenty of room for D1 Training growth in the area.”

The company has set a target of having 75 locations operating by 2019.

Named a Top 30 Gym in America by Men’s Health, D1 Training has also received recognition by the NFL Players Association as well as being endorsed by the National Academy of Health Medicine.
