Celebrity trainer Leyon Azubuike's Gloveworx opens New York studio

Boutique boxing and fitness studio operator Gloveworx has opened its newest location at the Westfield World Trade Center in downtown New York City.

The 3,700sq ft club is the company's third studio in the US and is the chain's first location on the East Coast. The two other are in Los Angeles.

Training is available either through intimate group and personalized one-on-one sessions in an "enthusiastic team environment".

Facilities at the New York site include a full-size competition ring for boxing workouts, a turf area for functional strength training and core exercises and a large gym floor with resistance training equipment, heavy bags, speed bags, VersaClimbers, Woodway treadmills, and Olympic lifting racks and platforms.

The studio also incorporates wearable technology and biometric data analysis into its personal training programs to help clients make "more informed choices" in their daily lives. Guests will additionally be able to purchase a variety of exclusive Gloveworx merchandise including branded gloves, gear and hand wraps.

Gloveworx was launched in 2015 by celebrity trainer Leyon Azubuike – whose client-list includes Jennifer Aniston and Jennifer Love Hewitt – and combines boxing with conditioning and strength training.

"We set out to deliver health, wellness, and empowerment to individuals and communities everywhere with personalized, caring support," said Azubuike, who is also a former US Nationals heavyweight boxer.

"We're excited to see our expansion plans come to life and to bring the Gloveworx philosophy back to my childhood roots with the addition of a New York City studio."
