Mohegan Gaming and Entertainment building paramount theme park in Korea

Mohegan Gaming and Entertainment's Inspire Integrated Entertainment Resort, currently under development in South Korea, will include a Paramount Pictures-branded theme park following a strategic partnership being agreed between Mohegan and Paramount.

The Inspire resort will include a number of features, including a 5,000-seat concert and sports arena, a casino and a hemispherical dome featuring over 48,000sq ft (4,500sq m) of climate-controlled indoor pool space with rides, dining and retail.

Now, with this latest agreement, it will also have the 99-acre Paramount Pictures theme park with a connecting entertainment and retail village, which will open in 2025.

"With Paramount alongside as we answer the demand of today's consumers, the Inspire model not only displays our commitment to trendsetting in this industry but also demonstrates the Mohegan Tribe's commitment to growing South Korea's travel, tourism and workforce development goals, while securing the generational sustainability of the Mohegan Tribe," said Kevin Brown, chair of parent company the Mohegan Tribe.

Kevin Suh, EVP of themed entertainment at Paramount, added: "Paramount is proud to announce Korea as one of the first locations for a world-class Paramount branded theme park. Paramount looks forward to its partnership with Inspire and to be part of one of the world's premier entertainment destinations at Inspire."

Inspire is scheduled to open in 2022, with its first phase completion including the aforementioned arena, casino and dome, as well as a 5-star resort hotel with over 1,250 rooms, suites and villas.

The multi-billion dollar project will stretch to 420 acres and will be located by Incheon Airport – the main airport for the South Korean capital, Seoul.
