Roslin Retreat partners with Jennifer Young to create specialist treatment menu for cancer sufferers

The Roslin Retreat spa at Roslin Beach Hotel in Southend-on-Sea, Essex, has introduced a new specialist treatment menu especially for guests living with, and recovering from, cancer.

Developed in collaboration with Beauty Despite Cancer founder Jennifer Young, the menu includes four specialised treatments, including: the Jennifer Young Indulgent massage, the Balanced Body & Mind treatment, the Jennifer Young Glowing facial and the Jennifer Young Top to Toe treatment.

The Jennifer Young Indulgent massage (50 minutes) is a bespoke treatment designed for those with sensitive skin types, while the Balanced Body & Mind treatment (50 minutes) is a full body massage that corrects energy imbalances and uses a bespoke oil blend to rebalance the chakras.

The Jennifer Young Glowing facial (50 minutes) has been adapted to restore delicate skin, leaving it glowing and refreshed, and includes a scalp massage, while the Jennifer Young Top to Toe treatment (100 minutes) combines a gentle full body massage with a relaxing facial.

The treatments use completely natural, organic products from two skin care collections, Defiant Beauty and Beyond Beauty. Defiant Beauty is designed for guests going through cancer treatments and is formulated for more sensitive skin, while Beyond Beauty is used post-cancer treatment and contains essential oils to treat dry skin. Both lines are derived from vegetable and essential oils, and are free from oestrogen, which is known to feed some cancers.

In addition, therapists have undergone training with Young herself to ensure that guests receive gentle, sensitive and adaptable spa experiences.

Megan Priddle, spa operations manager at Roslin Retreat, said: "For somebody going through cancer treatment or having just won a battle with cancer, it’s a very sensitive time and often when pampering is most needed.

"At the beginning of 2018, myself and my management team made the decision that by this time next year we would be able to support guests living with and beyond cancer. This is an extremely proud moment for us and I look forward to watching my skilled, compassionate therapists using their extensive knowledge and calming techniques to help provide these guests with the pampering and relaxation that they truly deserve."
