Peter Fitzboydon to step down as MD of Parkwood Leisure

Peter Fitzboydon has stepped down from his managing director position at Parkwood Leisure after less than two years in the role.

Fitzboydon joined Parkwood in June 2017 after a three-year stint as chief executive of London Sport.

During his tenure at Parkwood, he oversaw a major transformation of the business – including a number of new contract wins, which have resulted in the company growing significantly.

"Parkwood Leisure has undergone a period of rapid change over the last year or so, with the Parkwood 2.0 business transformation programme improving the way we operate," Fitzboydon told HCM.

"This work has been a major factor in our recent business development success, where we have won six new contracts contributing over £10m of annual turnover.

"This was my immediate aim as managing director. Parkwood already had good future stability, however the transformation work has helped to make our medium and long term financial outlook even more secure.

"The focus in the short term now needs to be on optimising the 'core business'. In other words, on mobilising these new contracts, bedding in the existing Parkwood 2.0 changes across the estate, and making sure we continue to improve our profitability.

"Therefore my brief as a catalyst for change has been completed and it now feels like a good time to move on to my next challenge."

Fitzboydon is stepping down with immediate effect and will be replaced by Glen Hall, Parkwood's current operations director. Hall, who has spent more than 20 years at Parkwood in various roles, has been named as Fitzboydon's permanent replacement.
