Balance training trend gathers pace

Balance training is increasing in popularity among fitness operators and users.

The emergence of balance training as a growing trend was identified by HCM in its latest Fitness Foresight report, published in HCM Handbook 2019 (click here to access the full report).

Having an excellent sense of balance is a fundamental element of good physical literacy and in the report, HCM predicts that training methods that improve balance will grow in popularity as people increasingly appreciate the benefits of having a strong core and good balance.

The trend is likely to drive growth in yoga and pilates-related disciplines and also increase the use of balance-based exercise equipment.

As a sign that the latter is already happening, neuromuscular training equipment provider Reaxing is now entering the UK, having named The Physical Company as its exclusive distributor for the UK market.

Reaxing has developed a training methodology and product range which includes lights, water balls, floating boards and water-based, loaded movement training kit.

Utilising "Sudden Dynamic Impulse" technology, the training is based on releasing gradual and monitored, sudden motor impulses, forcing the user to activate quick neuromuscular reactions.

According to Reaxing, the unpredictability boosts training performance and forces neuromuscular reactions to respond to changeable situations and movement.

As part of the new partnership, Physical Company will supply the full range of Reaxing products in the UK.

Reaxing has built up a presence throughout the US, Middle East and Asia and now plans to extend its reach throughout Europe. It has already secured deals with a number of elite sports clubs – including Italian football giants AC Milan and Juventus.

In the UK, The company looks to provide its tailored solutions to health clubs, as well as the rehabilitation and physiotherapy market.

“Reaxing is built on innovation and aims to provide a unique approach to muscle and neuromotor development," said Alan Holl, international vice president of Reaxing.

John Halls, managing director of Physical Company, added: "The research and development that has gone into each Reaxing product is second to none. With the fantastic success of the brand throughout the US, Asia and the Middle East, we are excited to work closely with Reaxing moving forward."
