Budget chain EōS Fitness ramps up expansion plans

Low-cost gym operator EōS Fitness has acquired five former Gold's Gym locations in Utah – its first in the US state.

The acquisitions are part of EōS Fitness' wider expansion plan to add up to 15 more gyms to its portfolio within the next 24 months.

The announcement comes six months after BRS & Co., a New York-based private equity firm, announced a recapitalisation of EōS Fitness designed to provide management with the "flexibility and capital to continue to expand EōS's footprint throughout the US".

EōS Fitness owns and operates more than 30 locations throughout Arizona, California, Nevada and has already announced plans to open its first locations in Florida.

EōS gyms offer large facilities – the average size of a gym is 50,000sq ft (4,645sq m) – which mix traditional gym floors with signature facilities, such as "The Yard", a green synthetic turf functional training area.

Facilities vary by location and can include anything from group fitness spaces, basketball courts, indoor pools, Kids' Clubs with "jungle gyms" and even "mini cinemas".

"Our growth is fueled by our existing members and those new to EōS Fitness seeking accessible health and fitness options," said Rich Drengberg, CEO of EōS Fitness.

"By expanding EōS Fitness to Utah, gym-goers have a much larger network of 30 plus gyms to choose from throughout the Southwest and soon in Florida, all which feature a full suite of amenities and affordable memberships."
