IHG partners with Spa Creators to open The Ana Spa at Holiday Inn Winchester

A new day spa has opened at the Holiday Inn Winchester in Hampshire, UK.

The spa, called The Ana Spa, is a first for the hotel chain, which is owned by InterContinental Hotel Group (IHG) and operated by asset management firm Castlebridge Group. It forms part of works that saw the hotel's restaurant moved from the basement level to the lobby to create an 'open lobby' concept.

Billed as a 'luxurious deep relaxation space', The Ana Spa was created by Spa Creators, a Berkshire-based consultancy firm, which was appointed by Castlebridge in the early stages of the project to create design concepts for the spa, as well as carry out feasibility and business planning services. It was built by Murray & Willis, a Staffordshire-based contractor specialising in refurbishment services.

The spa is home to five treatment rooms, including a double treatment room, equipped with treatment tables from Gharieni and linens from BC Softwear's Sumptuous collection. It offers a host of thermal experiences including a four-person rasul, adjacent to the double treatment room, and a vitality pool, equipped with bubble loungers and a fluted massage cannon.

Other thermal facilities include a Finnish and Himalayan salt sauna, sensory shower, aroma essence steam room, and two Kniep foot spas.

Also on offer is an extensive treatment menu, curated by Spa Creators, featuring Elemis treatments, Lava Shell massage rituals, and nail services from Jessica Nails.

An adjoining health club and yoga studio, equipped with Matrix equipment, offers Les Mills virtual classes including Body Pump, Body Balance and Spin. The gym is separated from the spa by an acoustically controlled door that can be opened to connect the two spaces.

Alistair Johnson, director of Spa Creators, told Spa Business: "We wanted to create a space that would appeal to both hotel guests and day spa visitors. There are a lot of different types of people who use the hotel, whether it's families going to Peppa Pig world or couples going on cruises, and we wanted the spa to be an attraction in its own right."

Spa Creators will continue its involvement with the project, with its 'Light Touch' management contract, which will bring the business from opening to operational stability. It was also responsible for staffing the spa, as well as organising staff training and implementing operational procedures.
