Bells + Whistles designs new concept

Bells + Whistles have designed a "social wellness club" in Los Angeles that has been conceived to help people reset mentally and physically from the stresses of modern-day life.

Remedy Place claims to be a new concept, rather than a spa or a clinic, where social interaction is combined with self-care.

The destination is designed to "foster communal experiences as well as moments of sanctuary" with relaxation promoted through minimalist form, rich texturing, refined details and neutral palettes.

Semi-private lounges with luxurious seating provide comfortable spaces for rest and reflection during IV treatments, with curtains that allow guests to manage their privacy.

The centre's meditation room has been designed for solitude and reflection, with glass walls, curtains to close off the space, a dark Venetian wall, soft flooring and a sound-absorbing fabric ceiling.

There are hyperbaric chamber oxygen therapy, infrared sauna and lymphatic drainage massage facilities.

Wellbeing has also been designed into the lighting and sounds of Remedy Place, with luminaires that limit relaxation-inhibiting blue light and a curated playlist containing audio frequencies that trigger beneficial brainwaves of matching frequencies.

"I want people to take back control, to utilise incredible technologies that exist today to keep their bodies in a healthy state of balance through preventative care that counteracts these stressors, so they don’t build up and push their health over the edge," explained Dr. Jonathan Leary founder of Remedy Place.

"To do this, I wanted to create a place that was communal in nature, so that one can incorporate wellness into their social life – because the two can and should go hand in hand."
