Civana to partner with Chopra Centre for new Ayurvedic retreat and programming

Arizona desert wellness destination resort, Civana, has announced a partnership with celebrity wellness expert Deepak Chopra’s wellness company – The Chopra Centre for Wellbeing.

The collaboration will see the resort roll out The Chopra Whole Health programme, which will feature a selection of wellness experiences including spa treatments and a dedicated retreat.

The Chopra Whole Health Retreat will be a six-day Ayurvedic immersion designed to provide an intimate group experience.

It will take a mind-body approach and teach participants how to build healthy habits and routines through meditation instruction, Ayurvedic lifestyle curriculum, daily therapeutic body treatments and a nutritional detox.

Seven new Chopra spa treatments will also be rolled out in late 2020 as part of the partnership, all of which will focus on traditional Ayurvedic practices.

Upcoming treatments will include offerings such as a traditional Abhyanga massage using two-therapists, Shirodhara and a Chopra signature massage – such as the Gandharva method which utilises the principles of sound therapy and the movement of subtle energy.

The treatments will focus on the unique mind-body constitution of the recipient and each one will be customised for the individual.

The Civana brand was born in 2017 out of a desire to make authentic and holistic wellness more approachable for the everyday traveller.

The group was originally led by Kevin Kelly, who had been CEO, and Rianna Riego, who was chief brand and wellness officer, who together crafted the spa concept.

In February 2019, Civana opened a brand new spa with 28 treatment areas, following a massive US$50m (€44.3m, £38.2m) overhaul.

Centred around a heritage of sustainability and a holistic menu of fully customised treatments, the two-story, 22,000sq ft spa offers guests a progressive journey toward wellness grounded in the principles of flexibility, attainability and innovation.

Treatment areas include a Watsu therapy pool; two couples treatment rooms; three wet treatment rooms, including a Vichy shower; five facial rooms; and 13 massage rooms.
