Iconic Trellis Spa will reopen in February 2021 after multi-million-dollar renovation

In early February 2021, Trellis Spa at the Houstonian will reopen as a 26,500sq ft facility – making it the largest spa in Texas – following an extensive refresh project.

Located on 27 wooded acres in the heart of Houston, a focal point of the refreshed facility will be a brand new 6,500sq ft Soaking Pools and Garden area, conceptualised by award-winning design firm Blu Spas.

The outdoor contrast bathing experience is being designed as a social haven inspired by global bathing cultures and will be completed with a vibrant floating art installation of butterflies.

New private cabanas will populate the pool area and be available to rent for parties of up to 10 for as little as three hours or the full day, each with a personal concierge service.

Visitors will be able to purchase day access to the Soaking Pools only and enjoy relaxing outdoors in rocking chairs under a pergola, seating areas around two fireplaces and a meditation garden with the sounds of a water feature nearby.

Interior designer Kay Lang of Kay Lang and Associates is ensuring every inch of the spa has had a top-to-bottom refresh, using soft details and a palette of natural colours.

“Natural tones, stone textural elements, accent wood and glass will reflect back to nature,” she explained.

An additional 3,000sq ft of space is being incorporated into the existing Trellis Spa, including a new dining room offering healthy cuisine, a makeup studio and pedicure bar.

The extension will also add an intimate Spa Two-gether suite, which allows two people to spa at once with all-new spa menu duo services.

Many of the treatment favourites from Trellis Spa will make a repeat performance on the new menu, along with new touchless therapies and new facials from ORVEDA and Natura Bissé.

Renae Cassam is continuing her role as GM at Trellis Spa, which will reopen as the first in America to feature Gharieni’s MLX i3 Dome and Cellis treatment tables.

The 21-treatment-room spa has also had its Tranquility Room expanded for relaxing pre-and post-treatment relaxation, as well as a completely redesigned Reflection Pool beneath custom chandeliers, a steamroom and hot tub areas in both the men’s and women’s locker rooms.

Construction began on the spa in 2019 and will also include a complete remodel of the hotel’s guest rooms and suites, an enhanced arrival experience and an update to the hotel’s Great Room lobby.

In March 2020, Trellis Spa welcomed a sister-site called Solaya Spa and Salon which opened as an alternative spa offering during Trellis Spa's refurbishment.
