Wexer launches software development kit, offering content for clubs' own apps

Digital fitness content provider Wexer has launched its new software development kit (SDK), which allows the virtual fitness content hosted on the Wexer Mobile app to be integrated into existing apps operated by health clubs and studios.

"We know that many operators already have an app and don’t want to start again from scratch and our SDK menu has been launched in recognition of this," Wexer said.

"It’s a cost-effective way of giving club members all the content they want, without them ever having to leave the environment of the club's own app.

"Content creation can be one of the most expensive, time-consuming tasks for operators looking to offer a digital experience – and our SDK has been launched in recognition of this."

Clubs will be able to control the user interface – what the end user sees in terms of design, app navigation and branding – as well as the data created by the app, giving operators control of the front end and the data.

Wexer, meanwhile, will provide the "invisible back end" of the app, by providing and channeling the content from its content management system via its digital platform into the app and the user’s screen.

"In a nutshell, we invest in a constant stream of fresh new programmes – and all the supporting technology – so clubs don’t have to," Wexer said.

"And if clubs want to charge a premium for the new content – and as long as the app has that functionality – that’s fine too. Ultimately, the clubs will be able to control the environment and, to all intents and purposes, it looks and feels like it's their own content."
