New TeamUp fitness app combines workouts with dating service

A new digital fitness platform has combined a digital exercise offering with online dating features which allow users to meet workout partners and find a "fitness companion".

TeamUp will see members create their own activity profiles and then pick and choose from members to see if they want to meet in-person – or virtually – for a workout.

Described as a social, lifestyle, and fitness platform, the app looks to benefit from the increasing popularity of both digital fitness and online dating – two sectors that have seen explosive growth due to the pandemic and restrictions on social gatherings.

TeamUp includes a specially-designed "Fitness HookUps" feature, which gives members the chance to discover profiles they would be interested in, based on similar activities and goals.

Members can then view their matches, which are generated by an in-built scoring system.

"We offer fitness enthusiasts and people who have a passion for fitness the ability to 'connect' with the entire fitness community through a mobile platform," said TeamUp CMO Frank Peperno.

"While the world navigates these unusual times, our users can utilise the TeamUp/Fitness HookUps feature to stay engaged with others in the fitness community."

TeamUp will also allow personal trainers, fitness professionals, instructors, nutritionists and coaches to set up a "pro" profile, which will allow them to monetise the content they upload.

The content uploaded by the "pros" – be it workouts, nutritional advice, videos or images – can then be categorised as either free or premium, with users paying for the premium content.
