Skåne Zoo launches glamping experience for 2021

Skånes Djurpark zoo in southern Sweden is launching a glamping experience for guests this year.

Visitors will be able to spend the night in 40sq m luxury lodges with huge windows, offering views of red deer roaming in their habitat.

Each lodge is fitted with a shower, toilet, double bed, bunk bed for the children and a free minibar with refreshments.

The overnight stays will be marketed as part of a two-day experience, in which guests have ample time to explore the large park and its offerings during the days.

As well as more than 900 animals, the zoo houses obstacle courses and treetop walks for families, a 20,000sq m (215,000sq ft) themed Shaun the Sheep Land, interactive farmyard experiences and rides – such as 250m-long tractor track.

Once the park closes to the public, those staying at the glamping lodges are given unique access to animal feeding sessions, before settling down to watch the nocturnal deer.

Anna Blinkowski, one of Skånes Djurpark's zoologists, said: "During the evening, the atmosphere in the park becomes magical as many of the animals become extra curious and show themselves in other ways than during the day.

"Through our concept, the children will be active, explore nature and get to know the animals in a fun way."

Skånes Djurpark was acquired by the Norwegian family firm Lund Gruppen Holding in 2015.

Launched in 1895, Lund Gruppen has been owned and operated by the Lund family since its inception and the group is one of Scandinavia's largest players in the attractions industry. In addition to Skånes Djurpark, it also owns the Norwegian amusement parks Kongeparken and Lunds Tivoli and also operates Lund Gruppen Arrangemang, which arranges several of Norway's major festivals.
