BestFit continues on the acquisition trail – buys EuroFit

German fitness operator BestFit Group has acquired regional gym chain EuroFit for an undisclosed sum.

The deal will see BestFit add all five EuroFit clubs – in Kassel, Herford, Minden, Osnabrück and Marburg – to its portfolio.

EuroFit was founded in 2009, with a business model that mixes large gym floors and modern equipment with functional training and an extensive programme of group exercise classes – including Les Mills classes.

Since opening its first site in Osnabrück, EuroFit has grown its portfolio steadily and organically, identifying sites that fit its model.

Bestfit was founded in 2020, after private equity asset manager, Nord Holding, merged two of its fitness portfolio companies, Jumpers Fitness and AI Fitness, with each continuing to trade under its own name.

Nord Holding formed BestFit with the view of growing the premium discount fitness sector in Germany by acquisition and organic growth.

The group is now one of the bigger operators in the segment, with more than 210,000 members, 65 studios and a presence in southern and western Germany.

Marius Neugebauer, founder of Ai Fitness, has a stake in the group, while Jumpers founder and managing partner Stephan Schulan holds the role of managing director.

Jumpers Group was founded in 2008 and was acquired by Nord Holding in 2013.

Since Nord's ownership, the number of Jumpers studios has increased from 10 to 36, while memberships have expanded from 20,000 to around 90,000.

The Ai Fitness Group was founded in 2003 and currently operates nearly 29 studios.

Following the EuroFit acquisition, the BestFit Group now operates 70 clubs across the three brands.
