Visiting practitioners: dance therapy specialist invites spa guests to reawaken energy through therapeutic movement and contemporary dance

The Ozen Collection has launched a brand new spa and wellness concept called Ele | Na Elements Of Nature at its two luxe resorts in the Maldives – Ozen Reserve Bolifushi And Ozen Life Maadhoo.

The concept is designed to offer a 360-degree wellness experience and go beyond typical spa programming.

To this end, Ozen has organised a visiting practitioner series with a global line-up ranging from a South African medical aesthetician and healing arts specialist from the UK to a Canadian psycho-energetic massage specialist and three naturopath healing specialists who target stress and anxiety.

A highlight of the line-up will include Lorelei Bulan – a specialist in dance therapy, organic movement and breathing – who will tap energising movement therapies to awaken the senses and rebalance the chakras.

Bulan will host four different sessions daily at the Bolifushi location; Spine, Back and Joint Therapy; Creating Spaces in the Body; Intensive Breathing, Figure-8 Motions and Meditation; and Therapeutic Movement & Contemporary Dance.

Bulan told Spa Business she’s particularly excited about the final offering, after she has drawn on her 26-years’ experience as a dance artist.

"For me, dance is one of the most therapeutic forms of movement and art as it involves all senses, using the body and space where the body exists,” Bulan said.

“Dancing improves balance, coordination, flexibility, memory and produces a very positive type of energy that affects one’s mood in a productive and happy way, all of which are hugely beneficial to mental, emotional and physical health.

“I believe even just a tiny dose of 15 minutes of dancing per day will reduce stress, boost confidence and increase happiness in our everyday lives.”

In this session, she’ll help participants develop individual freedom and confidence through mirror-imaging, contact improvisation and grounding turns to help them release inhibitions and achieve harmony of mind, body and spirit.

Each of Bulan’s four sessions will last either 30-, 60- or 90-minutes long each and cost US$170 (€143, £122), US$280 (€236, £201) and US$350 (€295, £251) per person respectively.
