Legoland Korea park completed - set to open on 5 May

Merlin has confirmed that Legoland Korea Resort in the city of Chuncheon, the country’s first global theme park, will open to the public on 5 May 2022.

Construction work on the park was completed earlier this month and to mark the occasion, Merlin hosted a commemorative ceremony during which a giant symbolic key made of Lego bricks was delivered to the park's operating team, marking the official handover of the attraction.

The 28,000sq m Legoland Korea Resort is the first Legoland to be built on an island and features 40 rides and attractions, as well as a 154-room Legoland Hotel.

In total, there are seven themed areas: Brick Street, Bricktopia, Lego Castle, Lego Ninjago World, Pirates Shore, Lego City, and Miniland.

Located on Jungdo island, the resort is the world's 10th Legoland park.

Nick Varney, Merlin Entertainments, said: "As we gear up towards the official grand opening of Legoland Korea Resort, it brings me immense joy to host today’s Key Handover Ceremony and to meet in person everyone who has helped us in this endeavour as well as share our hopes and expectations for the future."

Young Pil Kim, divisional director of the Legoland Korea Resort, added: "Legoland Korea Resort will be positioned as the nation’s key family travel destination, providing an authentic Lego experience through more than 40 rides, shows and attractions in addition to a unique hotel."
