Brownlee brothers launch free AI tool to help triathletes

Triathlon legends, Alistair and Jonny Brownlee, have launched a free conversational AI tool to share their vast training knowledge with multisport enthusiasts.

Designed to answer any question about triathlon or endurance, Ask Al is available via the Brownlee Fitness website at no cost.

Alistair Brownlee says the artificial intelligence tool represents thousands of hours of work: “It includes all kinds of information which Jonny and I and the Brownlee Fitness team have inputted: almost anything you can think of and anything our members can think of, about triathlon training, as well as academic research.”

CMO of Brownlee Fitness, Pete Pastides, says this is a great tool: “Both Al and Jonny have been heavily involved in the development, as have all the Brownlee Fitness coaches. When we first tried the finished model, we were scarily impressed and we’ve spent hours trying to break or confuse the programme but we couldn’t.”

Over the next six months, Brownlee Fitness will be unveiling advanced versions of Ask Al, as well as diving deeper into the growing coached triathlon training sector.

The Brownlee brothers have both enjoyed stellar careers: Jonny is the only triathlete to achieve three Olympic medals, while Alistair is the only male triathlete to have won two Olympic golds. They have been proactive about using their success to inspire others to take up the sport.

Following the 2012 Olympics, the brothers created the Brownlee Foundation to inspire children to get active and lead healthy lifestyles and provide the opportunity for participation in swimming, cycling, running and triathlon; develop coaches and support pathways.

In August 2023, Brownlee Fitness joined forces with Challenge Family to offer a virtual coaching platform, delivered via TrainingPeaks. It offers more than 350 training programmes which have been designed and tested by Alistair and Jonny, as well as nutritional advice, expert insights from Olympic-level coaches and a supportive online community.

Prices start at £25 a month for beginners and rise to £165 a month for 1-2-1 coaching that includes daily messaging, performance analysis and weekly reviews.
