Maldives’ first resort gets £20m facelift

The oldest holiday resort in the Maldives has nearly completed a £20m redevelopment.

Kurumba Village, part of the Universal Resorts Group, first opened in 1972. It will relaunch in December 2003.

New facilities will include a range of new rooms, suites and villas, all with private gardens, a bar over the lagoon, landscaped gardens, and a play area for children.

There will also be a new spa, which will be entered via a wooden walkway above an ornamental pool. Services on offer will include Ayurvedic treatments, massage and aromatherapy. Details: +44 (0)845 2300032
