Saudi Arabia requires women by law to cover themselves in Islamic dress when in public. Inside the Luthan Hotel, women can use the facilities uncovered and unchaperoned.

The hotel is also unique as the majority of swimming pools in surrounding Saudi hotels are only open to women on certain fixed days or hours.
