Odeon signs Irish management deal

Odeon & UCI Cinemas has announced a deal with Entertainment Enterprises Group (EEG) to manage and operate five multi-screen cinemas in Ireland.

The news follows EEG’s acquisition of the Belfast-based Storm Cinema Group, which will continue to trade under the Storm brand.

In August 2006, Odeon sold its Irish subsidiary, which consisted of three sites in Dublin, to EEG. The sites are branded UCI and are managed by Odeon.

Roger Harris, chief operating officer of Odeon & UCI Cinemas, said: “We are delighted to have reached a management agreement for these five sites. This will enhance our already excellent working relationship with Entertainment Enterprises Group and clearly places a significant share gap between us and our nearest competitors.”

This deal means Odeon & UCI now operates and manages 61 screens across eight theatres in Ireland.
