SDSS gives award to esthetics student

The Society of Dermatology Skincare Specialists (SDSS) has awarded an esthetic student with a scholarship as part of the National Coalition of Estheticians, Manufacturers/Distributors and Associations Scholarship Program.

The student, Monica McGregor, is a graduate of the Xenon International Academy in Wichita, Kansas. In addition to beginning her career in esthetics, Monica will continue her education.

Esthetician students are eligible to receive a US$1,000 (£505, 627 euro) scholarship while attending an American Association of Cosmetology Schools (AACS) member school.

The incentive scholarships are awarded to students demonstrating a good performance in school as well as financial need, determined by a short written explanation of the applicant’s situation. Only one scholarship student can be chosen from an individual school each year.

Applicants also need to have reached at least the midpoint of their training and maintained at least 80 per cent attendance and an 80 per cent grade average.

The SDSS is a voluntary organisation that aims to develop the highest standards of skincare in dermatology through education.
