02 May 2008 Grade II hotel demolished BY Tom Walker |
Demolition work has begun on the historic Royal Gatehouse Hotel in Tenby, Pembrokeshire, Wales. The Pembrokeshire County Council’s decision to pull down the property, which was gutted by a fire on Easter Sunday (23 March), was approved by members of the Pembrokeshire Coast National Park Authrority (PCNPA), after the site was deemed an immediate danger to the public. Simon Hancock, chair of PCNPA, said: “We are sad to lose such an important Grade II-listed building which has been a part of the Tenby landscape for so long." There are as yet no plans to redevelop the site. Close Window |
