Luxurious Cornelia Spa to open in New York

Cornelia Spa, a 20,000sq ft luxury spa, is set to open on Manhattan’s Fifth Avenue in New York this summer.

Located above the flagship Ferragamo store, the spa will cover two floors and include a rooftop garden, New York’s first Watsu pool and a restaurant.

It is the brainchild of Cornelia Zicu – formerly head esthetician of the Spa at the Peninsula Hotel in New York City – and designed, under her direction, by Zeff Design, with historical European influences using natural organic materials.

Cornelia Spa will offer more than 15 treatment rooms with in excess of 90 estheticians, massage therapists and staff, a hair salon and make-up studio. Large, luxurious changing facilities will include steam and shower rooms.

The main floor, on the 8th storey of the building, will include 11 treatment rooms and a private consultation room used exclusively by Zicu and a 600sq ft retail area offering Zicu’s signature products and lifestyle items, while a library with chaise longues and cashmere throws will offer relaxation space.

A glass staircase will lead from the library to the 9th floor and the roof garden, where four further treatment rooms are located and where the Watsu pool will provide underwater massage treatments. The garden will also feature a large whirlpool, a poolside lounge, a roof bar and spray-tanning facilities.

Zicu is currently treating clients out of a private suite at the Helmsley Carlton House on Madison Avenue and training estheticians while waiting for the new facility to be completed. Details: www.cornelia.com
