Lisdoonvarna Spa’s future secured by government fund

The Lisdoonvarna Spa Wells in County Clare, Republic of Ireland, has been given an 1,363,192 euro grant by the Ministry of Arts, Sport and Tourism, for the redevelopment of the site.

The grant will form a significant part of the estimated cost of 4.8m euros, with the rest of the monies coming from private investors.

The Lisdoonvarna facilities will include 16 multi-purpose treatment rooms, a mud treatment room, a quiet relaxation room, and five wet treatment rooms incorporating immersion baths – including sulphur bath treatments.

Other amenities include a 10-people hydropool, a themed sauna, an outdoor spa area and a refreshment and relaxation area.

The business plan and grant submission for the project was prepared by LLS Consulting, while the planning permission was secured by Syntax Group.

The project will include the construction of an entirely new building and the restoration of the existing ‘pump room’, which will be refurbished to host a retail space and a drinking well.
