Dreamworld visitors in the clutches of The Claw

Australian theme park Dreamworld opens its latest white knuckle experience tomorrow (18 September), a pendulum ride called The Claw.

The A$6m (£2.3m) ride will swing 32 passengers through 240 degrees for 90 seconds while spinning them through 360 degrees.

Claimed to be the most powerful pendulum ride in the world, The Claw joins Queensland-based Dreamworld’s other world-famous rides including The Giant Drop, the tallest free-falling ride the world; Cyclone, the tallest high speed rollercoaster in the southern hemisphere and The Tower of Terror, one of the world’s fastest rides.

Neil Belnaves, chair of Macquarie Leisure Trust, Dreamworld’s parent company, said: Pushing the boundaries further to provide Australians with the best rides in the world is important in positioning Dreamworld as Australia’s premier theme park.”

The ride was officially opened today (17 September) by Queensland’s minister for tourism, Margaret Keech.

Dreamworld theme park currently attracts more than 1.2million visitors a year.
