Construction of communal spa to begin in Bad Aibling

Work on a communal spa complex in the Bavarian town of Bad Aibling, located east of Munich, Germany, will commence by summer 2005.

The spa will include a number of swimming pools, a gym, sunbeds and a winter garden providing views of the surrounding Bavarian landscape.

Designed by Stuttgart-based architects Behnisch, Behnisch & Partner, the 1.4 acre Bad Aibling Spa will be situated in a number of dome-like structures, some of which are fully glazed.

The exact number of treatment rooms and saunas is still to be confirmed but the spa will operate an ecological micro climate within the glass domes – offering visitors a hot and humid temperature throughout the spa domes and a more relaxing and dry air in the dome which host the winter garden and its relaxation areas.

The flexible design of the domes allow them to be partially dismantled during summer months as well as opened and ventilated over night. Details: www.behnisch.com
