05 Dec 2008 Maidstone United up for sale BY Pete Hayman |
Paul Bowden-Brown, chair of Maidstone United Football Club (MUFC), has put the club up for sale after failing to secure new funding options as a result of the current economic slump. Bowden-Brown, who has been chair for 16 years, met with the club's board of directors on 2 December, where it was decided it was in the best interests of MUFC to sell the Ryman League Premier Division side to interested parties. Any future sale will have conditions attached, including a commitment to building a new stadium, as well as maintaining the semi-professional, reserve, youth, ladies and disabled teams. Existing shareholders will continue to fund MUFC's operations based on revised budgets, as well as developing fundraising initiatives for the stadium project. Close Window |
