Jumeirah opens desert resort and spa

Dubai-based luxury hospitality group, Jumeirah International, has opened a five-star desert resort and spa close to its existing properties Burj Al Arab, The Jumeirah Beach Hotel and Madinat Jumeirah.

Bab Al Shams, which translates as The Gateway of the Sun, offers 115 rooms and suites in 16 two-storey buildings.

There is also a gym, desert-side swimming pool and children’s play area, while a Satori Spa will open shortly, featuring indoor and outdoor treatment rooms.

Restaurants and bars include the region’s first open air Arabic Desert restaurant offering dining combined with Arabic entertainment such as a henna painter and falcon display; a rooftop bar and lounge and a poolside bar.

The resort was designed by Mirage Mille, which was also responsible for Jumeirah's Madinat Jumeirah resort.

As well as its Middle East properties, Jumeirah International also manages The Carlton Tower and The Lowndes Hotel in London’s Belgravia.
