![]() XCES Projects, in partnership with Hyatt International and PGA Golf Management, has announced plans to develop a 200m euro (£140m, US$268m) resort near Kinsale, County Cork, which is expected to create up to 800 jobs. The project will generate 350 full-time positions to be directly involved in the operation of the resort, with an estimated 450 jobs to be created in the local area as a result. A further 300 jobs will be involved in the three-year construction phase, calculated to cost 160m euros (£112m, US$214m). The Kinsale Harbour Resort, located on a 650-acre (2.6million sq m, 28.3million sq ft) site, will include a 200-room, 5-star Hyatt Hotel and Holiday resort lodge with conference facilities and a destination spa; a 260-acre (1million sq m, 11.3million sq ft), 18-hole golf course covering the old Kinsale racecourse and an indoor and outdoor equestrian complex, with a 500-seat indoor arena capable of hosting international events. Designed by international architects, Henry J. Lyons, the resort will retain existing countryside access and feature a new public walkway along the boundary to the site overlooking the sea. Hyatt International will have overall responsibility for running the resort, while PGA Golf Management -– part of the Professional Golfers’ Association of America – will operate all golf-related facilities. Carlos D’Avilez, project director for Cork-based XCES Projects – an international property development consortium – said: “Hyatt International is a high-end operator with a fantastic record in resort management and there are no better partners in golf than PGA Golf Management.” Hyatt International’s senior vice president of development, Michael Shindler, said: “We have brought our management and brand to many beautiful destinations around the world but none more spectacular than the Kinsale Harbour Resort project.” David Dean, senior management executive of PGA Golf Management, added: “The Kinsale Harbour Resort will not only be a market leading addition to the economy of Kinsale and Cork County, but will become one of the finest and most sought after golf resort experiences in Europe.” Close Window |
